Letters from JRR Tolkien, Agatha Christie, CS Lewis and others will be on display.
PRESS HERE WORKSHOP, Quarto Press, Coupar Angus, 10:30am-5pm, Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21 September. Incredibly, this press still uses the same method of printing as the one Androw Myllar brought to Scotland in 1508. Have a go at some printing techniques. UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN SPECIAL LIBRARIES AND ARCHIVES, King’s College, tours at 10am, 11am, noon and 1pm, Saturday, 13 September. These archives provide a unique and internationally significant range of printed, archival and other sources for the higher education community and beyond. Many rare items.
DUNDEE CONTEMPORARY ARTS, Nethergate, 10:30am-5:30pm, Saturday, 20 and noon-5pm, Sunday, 21 September. The DCA has worked with artists to produce a special publication based on the first printed article recorded in Scotland, The Complaint of the Black Knight. Get a guided tour of artist’s print studios, learn about the techniques used and meet the artists themselves. Free tours 11am and 1:30pm on both days. 01382 909900 to book.
CARRONGLEN HOUSE, Carrongove Papermill, Denny, 10am-4pm, Saturday, 13 September and 12:30pm-4pm, Sunday, 14 September. This house, built in 1863, was recently used as the offices of the Carrongrove Papermill. Last chance to see this opulent mid-Victorian villa before it is redeveloped into apartments.
