BBC hires incoming director-general’s old colleague

A FORMER colleague of the BBC’s incoming director-general from the Royal Opera House has joined the corporation in a senior executive role with a six-figure salary.

The BBC has appointed Anne Bulford OBE, as managing director, BBC Finance and Operations, which combines the previous posts of chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

Ms Bulford, who is currently Channel 4’s chief operating officer, worked at the Royal Opera House for several years alongside Tony Hall.

She has also worked as finance director at Carlton Productions and at the BBC as head of internal audit and finance director of BBC Productions.

The current chief financial officer, Zarin Patel, is stepping down.
