Battery power hits streets
A FLEET of electric cars will be trialled in Glasgow, thanks to a £1.8 million technology grant.
Forty battery-powered Peugeot 207 cars and Peugeot Eurobus taxis will be used by organisations in the city as part of the two-year pilot scheme.
The electric cars have been developed by Allied Vehicles in Glasgow and have batteries supplied by Axeon of Dundee.
Glasgow City Council, ScottishPower, Strathclyde University and Scottish Enterprise are also part of the consortium.
The funding came from the Technology Strategy Board, as part of a government project testing low-carbon vehicles.
