The 30-year-old former Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts player left Ibrox after three years in the summer and was keen to try his luck in England and remains so despite a frustrating summer.

Black played as a trialist for Berwick Rangers against Haddington Athletic in July and has also spent time training with Raith Rovers.

A number of Scottish clubs have been in contact with the one-time Scotland cap about short term deals or playing as a trialist but he has put those requests on hold as he pursues opportunities that have come up down south since the transfer window closed.

Black said: “Blackpool looked to be an option, however nothing concrete has been offered so far. Clubs are re-assessing their squads now and I will wait and see what happens.”
