Barlinnie prisoner linked to swine flu outbreak
A PRISONER has been classed as a possible case of swine flu, officials said today.
The inmate is being kept in isolation in a single cell at Barlinnie prison in Glasgow.
A Scottish Prison Service spokeswoman said: "We do not comment on individual prisoners.
"However we can confirm we have a prisoner in Barlinnie who has been in contact with a confirmed case of swine flu.
"The individual is currently under observation until the outcome of the tests are known."
The inmate's identity and length of his sentence were not disclosed.
The prisoner, who is believed to have been in contact with a swine flu victim in Paisley, is one of 380 possible cases of swine flu under investigation in Scotland.
All but 90 of them in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.
As of last night the total number of confirmed cases was 264, 11 of whom are being treated in hospital.
One person was discharged from hospital yesterday but two more were admitted.
Three people are being treated in intensive care in Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital.
