Bank holiday will mark Queen's jubilee

SCOTLAND will enjoy an extra bank holiday in 2012 to mark the Queen's diamond jubilee.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952, and yesterday First Minister Alex Salmond confirmed there would be an additional public holiday to mark the 60th anniversary.

Mr Salmond told MSPs: "I'm sure that the chamber will welcome the opportunity to join in the celebrations."
