Bands tune up for their big T Break

THE final shortlist of 48 unsigned acts has been drawn up for this year's T Break music event.

The judges were sent almost 1000 demos from across the country before making their final decision.

Six acts a night will play the Liquid Room in Edinburgh from May 4-7, with the others playing King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on May 11-14. Full show line-ups have yet to be confirmed.

T Break has given a number of artists their first break over the years, including Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini and hotly-tipped Edinburgh band Broken Records.

George Kyle, of sponsors Tennent's Lager, said: "Once again we had a wealth of talent to pick from and now look forward to what promise to be some fantastic showcases in May."

The best of the 48 bands will get the chance to play at the T in the Park festival in Kinross later in the year.

Dave McGeachan, of concert promoters DF Concerts, said: "T Break is a real stepping-stone for emerging bands and has continued to spot and champion the next big thing over the years.

"It's great watching bands live and it can be hard selecting those to play at T in the Park."
