Autism charity holds open day in the Capital
A CHARITY providing support to people with autism is holding an open day at its centre in the Capital.
The event takes place at the Craigmillar branch of Autism Initiatives UK on Thursday to highlight the range of services on offer.
The charity, which was established in 1972, has provided direct support services in Scotland since October 2004.
Autism Initiatives aims to answer the needs of people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and their families.
With a range of facilities throughout the country, Autism UK provides a "one-stop-shop" where people with Aspergers can obtain advice on relationships, employment, benefits and crisis management.
Autism Scotland's flagship centre at Craigmillar will open at 2pm on Thursday, showcasing the range of activities on offer there.
With each room tailored to a specific purpose, users can take part in art therapy, music therapy, cooking, gardening and relaxation activities.
