Aston Martin pawned by city banker
AN Edinburgh banker has reportedly pawned his Aston Martin car after being made redundant, to raise cash for his mortgage, living expenses and credit card bills.
Edward Fox, the owner of pawnbrokers Duncanson & Edwards in Queen Street, was offered the car as collateral for a loan, it was reported today.
He said he has been inundated with calls from wealthier city dwellers amid the rising cost of living and the deepening credit crunch.
He said: "I've lent money to almost 100 people to pay for private school fees this year, and I'm expecting quite a few people to come in next month and in September when the schools start back and the fees are due."
