Asthma alert for smokers

PARENTS of children with asthma should ensure the youngsters inhale little or no second-hand smoke after studies showed it worsened the condition, a city charity has said.

Anti-smoking organisation ASH said World Asthma Day should be used to encourage parents to cut the amount of cigarette fumes produced around young sufferers.

Chief executive Sheila Duffy said: "I am calling for an information campaign aimed at the parents and carers of children with asthma to highlight the dangers of second-hand smoke."
