Jazz review: Ella In Hollywood | Ella Fitzgerald
THIS 1961 album finds the great Ella Fitzgerald in dynamic form, and at her most exuberant, performing at a Hollywood nightclub.
Accompanied by an ace quartet featuring Lou Levy (piano) and Herb Ellis (guitar), she storms through raucous, hard-swinging versions of such favourites as Take The A Train, You're Driving Me Crazy and Mr Paganini, but balances them out perfectly with a handful of sumptuous ballads.
