Borders TV news criticised by business leaders

TELEVISION viewers in the Scottish Borders are being ill-served by “local” news bulletins from as far afield as the Lake District, according to business leaders.

Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) will host a conference this summer for broadcasters, politicians and local representatives to discuss the current television offering from ITV Border.

South of Scotland SNP MSP Joan McAlpine said: “At a time of such political importance in the lead up to the referendum on Scottish independence, it is vital that viewers in this area receive the same coverage from both sides of the debate as the rest of the country.”
