Extra-curricular activities: Rugby, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, swimming, dance, canoe club. Professional weekend coaching in football, rugby, shinty. Biennial four-week expedition for a group of seniors to a developing nation to focus on leadership, team-work and resilience. Previous trips have been to Costa Rica, Ecuador and Malawi; the next one is to Borneo.

Community links: Annual panto, charity events such as Comic Relief and Red Nose day. S1 annually raises money for children with leukaemia, S2 for the British Heart Foundation. Senior pupils fund raise, organise and run school dances through the year. Citizenship classes in S1/2 also work with the local community on various projects

Vocational education:We are part of the GOALS project, which aims to expose pupils who may not consider higher education as an option to university life. S3/4 pupils visit Strathclyde University, RSAMD and Glasgow Art School. S3/4 pupils take partic in Working in Health in Argyll & Bute, which exposes them to careers in the health service. S4-6 pupils join Army annually to spend a week with the Army experiencing military life.

Qualities: We want self-aware and self-reflective pupils who continue to learn throughout their lives. We aim to develop high confidence and self-esteem from which students can strive to fulfil ambitions and goals – and to develop a strong sense of respect and responsibility to ensure students work successfully with others in whatever career they pursue. Finally, we try to develop resilience so students have strength to work through difficult situations in their personal or professional lives.
