Appointment of secondary breast cancer nurse to ease fears
THE fears and financial worries of breast cancer patients will be eased by a unique new appointment in the Lothians.
The health board has become the first in Scotland to employ an exclusive secondary breast cancer nurse. Women don't receive enough support after learning of their disease, research has shown, and lead breast care nurse at the Western General Emma Bennett said the new appointment would make a significant difference.
She said: "We listened to women with secondary breast cancer to discover exactly what they needed and expected from their health service to allow us to tailor a system solely for them."
