Ann Summers chief lays bare secrets of success
THE chief executive of Ann Summers, the controversial chain of sex stores, is to give a talk in Edinburgh about successful women in business.
Jacqueline Gold, who has been voted one of Britain's top ten most powerful women, will be part of the panel for the Women Into Business conference at the EICC on Sunday, and will be the key speaker at 3pm.
Her empire, which generated 155 million last year, upset the city council recently when its new-look Princes Street store fell foul of city planners. The new banner in the store was called up by the council over concerns that the metal sign was out of character with the rest of Princes Street.
A spokeswoman for Ann Summers said yesterday that Ms Gold would not be popping into the store, due to a tight schedule, but is aware that the council has asked to remove the signs.
