Cruise ship safety crackdown

CRUISE ship safety is to be tightened following the Costa Concordia disaster.

The new regulations involve route planning, access to the bridge and lifejackets.

More than 30 lives were lost when the Costa Concordia struck rocks off the coast of Italy in January.

The new safety policies have been announced by Manfredi Lefebvre, the chairman of the European Cruise Council.
