Ambulance driver arrested for drink driving
An ambulance driver was arrested for drink-driving shortly before starting his shift, it emerged today.
Traffic police arrested the 38-year-old just before he drove into the Scottish Ambulance Service depot car park in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire.
They were tipped off by colleagues of the worker, who is from Glasgow.
The man, who was due to start a night shift, reportedly failed a breathalyser test and was taken to the police station for a blood test.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "A 38-year-old man was stopped by police in Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch around 8.50pm on 27 December 2008 in relation to a road traffic matter.
"Police inquiries are continuing."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We cannot comment on matters concerning individual members of staff."
