All grow for Botanics jobs

AN apprenticeship scheme which gives young people the chance to pursue a career in horticulture is “flourishing” at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

The Modern Apprenticeship scheme introduced at the Botanics last year is being held again, and the search is now on for four new recruits to study and work towards an SVQ Level 2 in amenity horticulture.

David Knott, the Botanics’ associate director of horticulture, said: “The horticultural apprenticeship scheme provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience.”

The two-year scheme is open to 16 to 19-year-olds and offers a full-time work programme of learning and qualifications.
