Alex Arthur in title target

ALEX ARTHUR has revealed that he hopes to make another title attempt this year, with his trainer saying he has a "new found passion" for the sport.

The former WBO super featherweight champion said: "I'm hoping to get another crack at a title this year, so potentially it could be really big year for me. I'm aiming for championship matches as soon as possible because I don't want to be boxing past the age of 35. These are the last few years of my career and I'm hoping to do massive things in the time I have left."

He has an eight-round warm-up lightweight fight confirmed for April with an unnamed opponent, due to be promoted by Frank Warren. That is due to be followed by a further fight in the summer which he hopes will pave the way for a title attempt.

Trainer Alex Brown, of Bronx Boxing Gym in Tranent, said: "I would expect Alex to shock a few people this year. Now he has a new team behind him you will see a different Alex. He has a new-found passion for boxing now."
