THIS BOY from Toledo has come a long way, from his start as a Benedictine monastery chorister, via psycho-rock and a period as a pianist-composer, and back to the Spanish guitar. Described as having been recorded 'by the fireside', this CD has the relaxed informality of a session where someone plays purely for pleasure. There is virtuosity, but of the most discreet kind: Victor Herrero simply loves the sound of his instrument, and what can be done with it. His harmonic progressions have a lovely sweep, and are full of unexpected twists and turns.
