Album review: Walter Becker
WALTER BECKER Circus Money **** SONIC360 CD19, £11.99
As the less prominent half of Steely Dan, Becker solo efforts have never been afforded the accolades reserved for his musical partner.
In the 14 years since his last record, little has changed. There are reggae flavours to 'Bob Is Not Your Uncle Anymore' and the bubbly 'Do You Remember The Name', the languid approach disguising typically sharp lyrics and contorted key changes.
'Somebody's Saturday Night' equals anything the Dan have done of late, and 'Three Picture Deal' is a not too distant echo of 'Show Biz Kids'.
