Aitken puts weight behind Gray to lead Scottish Labour
FORMER city council leader Ewan Aitken today threw his support behind East Lothian MSP Iain Gray in the race to lead the Labour party at Holyrood.
Mr Gray is expected to battle it out against former justice minister Cathy Jamieson and Andy Kerr, the party's public services spokesman at Holyrood, for the votes of party members, parliamentarians and trade unionists in the internal election.
The three MSPs are the front-runners in the race to succeed Wendy Alexander.
Cllr Aitken said: "He sees things others miss. Important things. I want real change in Scottish Labour and Iain Gray offers that fresh start, a new voice shaped by real experiences that people like me are looking for."
