John Eoin Douglas (Letters, 4 May) has nothing to fear with the sale of Edinburgh Airport’s security equipment

After all, with the recent revelations of mass spying by GCHQ and the NSA, airport security has been rendered redundant. The identity and plans of terrorists are presumably well known to the appropriate authorities.
