Ageing question

Scotland has an ageing population with 20 per cent over 60. The First Minister referred to this some weeks ago in a broadcast and stated his aim in the event of a Yes vote was to actively seek immigrants into Scotland to offset this ageing.

Since almost one million Scots are over 60, does this mean he will need a similar amount of immigrants to settle, marry and raise families here?

No matter how many do come and stay here, any increase to actually offset the increasingly ageing population will provide a strain on the infrastructure of the country – housing, schools, hospitals etc.

How does he propose to deal with this?
