Activist's trip home delayed
THE deportation of Edinburgh peace activist Theresa McDermott from Israel could be delayed because of the country's elections.
Ms McDermott, a postal worker from Pilrig, was arrested last week as one of nine passengers on a boat taking medicine and other supplies to Gaza when it was intercepted by the Israeli navy.
There was no news of her for four days until she called her brother to say she was being held in Israel's Ramleh Prison.
Her family say the Foreign Office has now confirmed she has appeared before an Israeli judge and will eventually be deported.
