AN OUTDOOR photography exhibition by former European Wildlife Photographer of the Year David Maitland reveals the different elements of the whisky production process.
Aberlour has announced the opening of what it calls the world’s first outdoor whisky art gallery. The exhibition is set in the countryside, and captures the elements of Scotland’s most famous exports.
Dr Maitland is one of the world’s foremost super-macro photographers, using the technique to capture subjects closer than they have before.
Among the visuals are those which delve inside a grain of barley, bring to life the hidden pattern of the oak sherry cask and showcase the kaleidoscopic patterns of the crystalline structure of the spirit itself.
Dr Maitland said: “The whisky journey is one that relies on nature.”
