TWO streets bordering Aberdeen’s Town House were cordoned off to pedestrians today after part of the roof of the city council’s headquarters fell onto a pavement below.
A spokeswoman for the city council said a section of Broad Street and Castle Street had been closed to pedestrians after metalwork fell from the Town House roof.
She continued: “No-one was injured by the falling metal, which landed on Broad Street. Investigatory work is ongoing meantime.”
The spokeswoman added: “Investigatory work is ongoing. Steeplejacks are surveying the roof and taking photographs meantime. If they find anything loose, they will secure it with netting. The photographs will be used to create a programme of work for the roof, if required.”
