A crime to miss meeting of top Capital writers
TWO of Edinburgh’s top authors are set to discuss their latest works at a special literary event.
Best-selling writers Alexander McCall Smith, creator of the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, and Inspector Rebus creator Ian Rankin, will both take part in a discussion at the Assembly Rooms.
It will be the first time the two authors have appeared together, and while both write crime fiction, the worlds they create are very different.
The event has been organised by Ottakar’s bookshop and later this week the chain’s George Street store will welcome another best-selling writer - science-fiction author Stephen Donaldson.
He will be reading from and discussing the first book in his new series The Runes of the Earth: The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
It will be the only Scottish appearance in the author’s first major UK tour in 20 years. Donaldson is due to appear at the outlet tomorrow at 7pm, while McCall Smith and Rankin will appear at the Assembly Rooms on December 7 at 7pm.
