5 charged with farm cruelty

FIVE people were yesterday accused of animal cruelty after scores of neglected horses, ponies and donkeys were discovered earlier this year.

RSPCA staff and vets rescued 125 animals from Spindle Farm, in Hyde Heath, Buckinghamshire, during an eight-day operation in January.

The charity said five people have been served summonses ordering them to attend court next week to face charges related to causing unnecessary suffering. They are James Gray, 44, Julie Gray, 40, Jodie Gray, 25, Cordelia Gray, 19, and a 15-year-old boy. All four adults live at Spindle Farm.

The RSPCA said they will face a total of 12 charges under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
