Yoke’s on him

I do not know Godfrey Bloom (Letters, 23 September) and I apologise if my unsought intervention is deemed out of order.

However, as a lover of the language I feel that he may be being “yoked on” for having mixed up the words “slut” (offensive, according to my dictionary) and slattern (old-fashioned, according to my dictionary – inept or slovenly in her personal habits).

Once again, let me apologise to anyone who feels I have overstepped the mark.
