Stefan King

Publican and property magnate, 40

Lives Glasgow.

Who he? One of Scotland’s biggest private leisure operators. Since taking over the pubs once under Ron McCulloch’s Big Beat umbrella, his G1 Group has continued to expand. This year he added Tusk, Switchback, the Edge, the Social (in Dundee and Glasgow) to his belt, refurbished Babez and the Corinthian, and added a second hotel in Aberdeen. He has also turned Glasgow’s Grosvenor cinema into an entertainment complex.

Conquests Your guess is as good as ours.

Haunts Any of his own watering holes.

Pluses Dinners, drinks and visits to glamorous hotels.

Minuses Stefan rarely has the time to enjoy himself.

Do Tell him about your inspired, original idea for a new bar.

Don’t Pick a fight about the Grosvenor cinema. The conversion of the 1920s art deco building has been controversial and plagued by protests from locals.
