£300,000 cash boost for purer Portobello water
A NEW 13-feet deep storm sewer is to be built in Portobello.
The 300,000 project will see a sewer built off Mountcastle Drive North aimed at improving water quality in the Figgate Burn.
Work will begin at the end of the month and last for 16 weeks.
Scottish Water project manager David Yarnell said: "This is a significant project for families living in the Portobello area.
"In times of heavy rainfall excess flows will be diverted from the existing sewer network to the new storm chamber."
