£115m care centre to start
WORK will start shortly on a £115 million emergency care centre at the Foresterhill hospital complex in Aberdeen.
One of NHS Grampian's biggest projects, it will integrate acute medical assessment with accident and emergency and out-of-hours services.
The seven-storey centre will be built next to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital and the existing accident and emergency department, which will be demolished once the new facility is complete in 2012.
Yesterday, the board announced its planning and construction partner for the new centre will be RD Health, a consortium formed to work with the NHS in Scotland.
