£1.2 million boost for project helping elderly Asian women
A PROJECT which supports elderly Asian women in the Capital is among those which have benefited from recent investment worth more than £1 million.
Announcing that 1.2m has been spent on older services for people in the community, health and social care leader Councillor Paul Edie said the extra funds were one way of coping with an ageing population.
On a visit to the Nari Kallyan Shangho, which has been able to increase its capacity from 20 to 60 thanks to the funding, Cllr Edie said: "They made me feel very welcome and it's obvious this service is of great value to them.
"We are making a significant investment in older people's services as people are living longer and requiring more support."
