13 feared dead after kayaks strike dam
THIRTEEN people are feared dead after their kayaks hit a dam under construction in Slovenia yesterday.
A politician was reportedly among the victims. Another three were taken to hospital.
A police spokesman said the tragedy happened as the kayakers tried to cross the dam on the Sava River.
It was reported last night that five bodies have already been recovered. The remaining bodies are believed to be trapped behind the hydro plant dam, which is still under construction.
The two boats, with 14 people aboard, turned over because of strong currents close to the site of the hydro-power plant.
