100 chickenpox cases in Lothian
MORE than 100 cases of chickenpox were reported in the Lothians last week, new figures have shown. Statistics issued by Health Protection Scotland revealed there were 126 instances, more than any other health board area.
In addition, there were 27 cases of food poisoning – lower than usual – and 17 bouts of the mumps.
Bacillary dysentery, usually contracted in the Third World, was one of Health Protection Scotland's infectious diseases, while there was also a case of rubella and two of scarlet fever.
