100 drink deaths a year
THREE per cent of all deaths in the Lothians are because of alcohol or drug abuse, figures have shown.
There were 107 alcohol-related deaths in 2007 as well as 54 drug fatalities, the Scottish Government said.
National comparisons show the NHS Lothian region to be below the Scottish average in both alcohol and drug death figures.
