AS the three wise men from the FAI spent an awkward week in each other’s company, their search for Ireland’s new manager was overshadowed by other business.

Kerr and Robson fight it out for Ireland job

BRYAN Robson, the former England and Manchester United captain, may be an even-money favourite with British bookmaker William Hill to be appointed the new Republic of Ireland manager, but he faces stiff competition from the Republic under-21 coach Brian Kerr, according to Irish-based bookmaker Paddy Power, which makes him the 4-7 favourite, well ahead of Robson (5-2) and former Ipswich Town manager George Burley at 7-2.
