GLENGLASSAUGH has launched a new 40-year-old single malt whisky, the second bottling released since the Portsoy distillery changed hands.

The new expression from the 138-year-old Speyside distillery is the second release in nine months, after the distillery was taken over by BenRiach earlier in 2013.

The 42.5% cask strength single malt is a deep gold colour, with a tropical nose and sweet palate.

The Glenglassaugh 40 Year Old will initially be held to an 800-bottle run, but is expected to become an ongoing part of the distillery’s lineup.

Glenglassaugh also distributes 26- and 30-year-old single malts and Revival, the first bottling released since the takeover.
