Poster boy: Andy Murray fan art proves huge hit
A GRAPHIC designer and tennis fan’s digitally-altered posters of Andy Murray have become an internet sensation.
The posters, designed by Scot Nial Smith, depict the US Open and Olympic champion as Crocodile Dundee, Mad Max and Captain America.
Other mock-ups have parodied Trainspotting, Gladiator and Highlander.
After sending his artwork to Judy Murray, Smith told the Daily Record that the tennis star’s mother tweeted it, triggering what has now become an internet phenomenon.
“I’m Scottish and someone like Andy will never come around again in my lifetime, so I thought I’d show what I thought of him on some posters,” Smith said.
“He’s a champion tennis player. I think he’s great and I sent my work to Judy Murray’s Facebook. It was only after she tweeted it that everyone began talking about it and it’s now gone mad. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s been picked up all over the world.”
