Lost Edinburgh: Grassmarket

The Grassmarket in 1912

The Grassmarket in 1912

THIS image of the Grassmarket in Edinburgh shows how the North side of the street has changed in 100 years.

The Black Bull Inn is still there today, albeit in a different building, and the giant Tattoo stand overlooking Edinburgh Castle’s parade ground contradicts the tapestry of roof tops which peered over the thoroughfare a century ago.
