Edinburgh Sketcher: The Castle
Picture: Edinburgh Sketcher
Edinburgh Castle is the subject of the first in a new series of picture posts on scotsman.com by the Edinburgh Sketcher.
Edinburgh Sketcher is a sketch blog from Mark Kirkham, an illustrator and designer living in Edinburgh.
He uses a range of mediums including ink, watercolour, pencil, oil paint, charcoal and collage to capture some of the capital’s familiar sights in a new light.
Mark chose the Castle sketch to kick off this new weekly series because it is emblematic of the whole concept.
“This is one of my first Edinburgh sketches, from over a year ago when I first had the idea of a sketch blog,” he says.
“I was working on my new gallery page and looking through all the images I have posted over the last year. It’s great to see them all together and the memories each one holds, like a illustrated diary!
“I also realised that I hadn’t posted this image of Edinburgh Castle, the one I used in my logo and icon for social networking.
“So here is the original Edinburgh Sketch.”
