During the month of May Scotland celebrates its favourite and most famous tipple – whisky.

In order to mark Whisky Month the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) has formed a series of partnerships with Scottish artisan producers to show people what delicious morsels they can enjoy with a dram.

The first of the partnerships was undertaken with The Buffalo Farm in Fife. SMWS tasked buffalo farmer, Steven Mitchell, with creating a product that would incorporate and complement the unusually named ‘Lemonade in a Garden Centre’ dram. In response to this challenge he created the whisky infused ‘Haggis in the Buff’ burger.

In the video SMWS ambassador Annabel Meikle tells us why the deliciously lean meat of the burger and the creamy whisky haggis work so well with the characteristics of this particular single malt.

This month long celebration of the ‘water of life’ is just one of many exciting events taking place during what is a landmark year for Scotland and its abundant natural larder.

The eyes of the world will be focused on Scotland as the country plays host to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 Ryder Cup and celebrates Homecoming Scotland. These events are expected to welcome thousands of visitors from all over the world who will all be lining up to sample some of our finest wares helping to solidify Scotland’s global reputation as a Land of Food and Drink.
