From delicious water buffalo to outstanding homemade pies there was something for everyone to try in the Land of Food and Drink at Bannockburn Live last weekend.

The two day event commemorated the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn with traditional music, battle re-enactments and a range of delicious foods from Scotland’s famous larder.

Audiences were immersed in fascinating stories about Scotland’s food history, culture and produce at the Food Talk tent, where foodie experts from across the land like Catherine Brown and Carina Contini shared personal anecdotes and historical tales about Scotland’s larder. Crowds from

Scotland and beyond were able to try delicious tasters from various producers from across the country which went down a treat.

The Land of Food and Drink proved the perfect opportunity to showcase some of Scotland’s finest produce. Visitors were able to sample succulent seafood from The Hebridean Farm Shop and buy tasty refreshing drinks from Bouvrage. At the hot food area The Buffalo Farm and Perthshire Farmers and Producers enjoyed a roaring trade as guests from all over the globe were keen to sample their tasty wares.

As Scotland plays host to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and further events included in the second edition of Homecoming Scotland, the opportunities to showcase Scotland’s impressive larder are immense.
