Grimshaw new breakfast host on Radio 1

RADIO presenter Nick Grimshaw takes over the hotseat on the UK’s breakfast show this morning, when he replaces Chris Moyles on BBC Radio 1.

He is expected to double the amount of music played on the landmark show, and will present the programme single-handedly after station boss Ben Cooper said he wanted to move on from the “zoo” format of Moyles’s show in which his production team played a large part.

Producers are keeping their cards close to their chest about the content of the show, but it will feature an interview with teen pop star Justin Bieber.

Grimshaw, known for his posse of celebrity pals including Lily Allen, Miquita Oliver and Harry Styles from One Direction, was a surprise choice, with drivetime’s Greg James expected to be the next breakfast host.
