BBC two named Channel of the Year at Television Festival

BBC Two was named Channel of the Year at the Edinburgh International Television Festival last night.

It saw off competition from last year’s winner, ITV1, to win the award.

BBC4 was named Digital Channel of the Year at the ceremony hosted by comic Jason Byrne.

The terrestrial programme of the year award went to BBC One’s Sherlock for the second year running.

Transatlantic hit Mad Men, which is broadcast on Sky Atlantic, was named the digital programme of the year.

Talkback, the production company behind hit shows including Celebrity Juice and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, won the indie of the year prize.
