National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards shortlist have been announced, and Scottish travel giant Skyscanner has been nominated.
Readers of one of the UK’s top selling travel magazines voted for their favourite destination, airline, tour operator and more, with the winners to be announced during a ceremony in London this November.
Skyscanner has been nominated under the ‘Digital’category, up against Airbnb and TripAdvisor.
Cat McGloin, Skyscanner’s UK Travel Editor said of the news: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted, and all the more so because this listing came from readers themselves. We’re proud to be the first port of call for 50 million travellers every month – whether it’s to plan flights, hotel or car hire. We know National Geographic’s readers, like us, are keen travellers, so to be shortlisted is an honour.”
Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said: “These inaugural awards were the ideal platform for readers to air their views, have their say and let us know what they relish about travel the most. We’re excited to see the results and look forward to celebrating with the category winners this month. A big thanks to all those who put forward their views and also to all our sponsors who have made this happen in our first event of this kind.”
One of Scotland’s most vistied heritage site’s, Edinburgh Castle, was also nominated under the Best UK Attraction category, along with Tower of London and Stonehenge.
