EA GAMES have confirmed that Rangers will be playable in FIFA 13 - as a ‘Rest of the World’ team.
There had been some doubt over whether or not the Ibrox club, who were demoted to the Scottish Third Division following their recent financial crisis, would be included in the latest installment of the popular football game.
In July, the developer released a brief statement, saying: ‘As far as Glasgow Rangers are concerned, [EA Games] have not made a decision at this time on whether we will pursue a separate licensing agreement to include them in FIFA 13.’
Today, however, the official EA Sports twitter account posted a message, saying: ‘Rangers @RFC_Official will feature as one of our Rest of the World sides in #FIFA13.’
The reason for the confusion arose after it became apparent that the club’s liquidation and entry to SFL3 meant that EA’s existing license agreement with the Scottish Premier League would no longer include Rangers.
The ‘Rest of the World’ section normally includes the likes of Turkish cracks Galatasaray and some Russian teams.
