STEPHEN Gallacher helped open a new £1 million clubhouse at an Aviemore golf course that boasts Scotland’s longest hole at 635 yards.

Ryder Cup hopeful Gallacher teed off at the 72-par MacDonald Spey Valley Championship Golf Course ahead of next week’s BMW PGA Championship.

Next month the venue and new two-storey clubhouse, finished in wood and local natural stone, will again host the prestigious Scottish Hydro Challenge, hosted by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts.

The new clubhouse is situated in what was voted the UK’s most picturesque golfing resort location in 2010

Stephen Gallacher said: “I have been hugely impressed with everything that has been created at Macdonald Spey Valley and the opening of the new clubhouse is a great addition to this.

“I always look forward to playing Macdonald Spey Valley and having the chance to spend a few days here, during what is one of my busiest years on Tour.”
