It has been reported that officials in the town of Brunete are employed to quietly patrol the streets and strike up a conversation with the unknowing dog owners who have failed to clear up the mess.

After learning the dog’s name the official can cross-reference this, along with the breed, with the registration information held on record.

The offending item is then scooped up and packaged before being posted to the rogue owners, who recieve an unpleasant surprise dropping through their letterbox marked “Lost Property”.

The scheme has apparently caused a fall in street fouling by as much as 70%.
